Edible Flowers - Candytuft
Candytuft belongs to Brassicaceae family of plants, which is the same as cabbage. It has little umbels of flowers which can be kept together or seperated for a really delicate effect. Although there is a slight resemblence to the cabbage flavour in these flowers, they are actually very bitter and so probably best used as a garnish and for decoration only.
Colours: Purple, pink and white
Flowering time: Summer to autumn
Ideas for use: Best as decoration due to their bitter flavour but look pretty floated in drinks, on cakes and as garnish on the side of a dish.
