Edible Flowers - Hollyhocks
When I was little my mum and I would make tiny matchstick dollies with the Hollyhock flower for their skirts. Little did I know then what beautiful edible flowers they are. With their large, open blooms Hollyhocks would look beautiful on top of a celebration cake or their petals in a salad. It is important to remove the stamen before using as it carries a lot of pollen, which can cause allergies.
Colours: Multi-coloured
Flowering time: Summer to autumn
Ideas for use: Large cake decoration, crystallise, salads.
