Edible flowers - Borage
Published: 21st Jun 2015
Borage, what a star. This little edible flower is friend to bees and human flower eaters alike. Because of its pretty shape, bright blue colour and light cucumber flavour it works with sweet and savoury dishes and looks great in drinks.

As long as it gets to enjoy the sun and has a regular drink, borage will happily get on with life. A bit like me really.
The buds burst open into stars in June and have a lovely long flowering period into the autumn. Just think of all the dishes that borage could improve over that time!

Nicknames for Borage are Starflower, Tailwort, Talewort and Cool Tankard. I'm not telling you what my nickname is ![]()
Take a look at my dipped strawberries with borage flowers and borage chocolate heart brownies.
