Edible flowers - Chives
Published: 19th Jun 2015

Who would have thought that such a sweet looking little edible flower could have so much flavour? Well it does. Loved by bees and flora eating folk alike the chive flower is pleasing in so many ways.

Chives are all-round stars really. You can eat the leaves and the flowers for weeks, they're great for pollinators, they come back every year and don't need lots of mollycoddling (like some others I could mention).

Get really close to a chive in flower and you'll see its complexity and detail, a lovely pom-pom made up of individual groups of petals. For making food look pretty they are so versatile, either leave them whole or take apart the flowers to arrange in your own way.
